2020 Designer Show House
The home was purchased in 2015 by the Hunt family: Jim and Lisa and their three children. Like many older houses, it needed work, yet it was very livable for this active Kensington, Maryland family. Having spent their youthful summers in Rehoboth and Ocean City, they already knew they wanted a vacation home in the area. Beautiful Henlopen Acres lured them with its expansive lawns, sumptuous hydrangeas, stately magnolias and tranquil ambiance. Of course, there’s also the famed Rehoboth Art League, a small marina, an exclusive beach club on the ocean and other amenities for all ages. The house seemed like a good fit.
Built in 1965, the rambling 2-story, four-bedroom, five-bath house features a grand living room with fireplace, separate dining room, kitchen, den, loft, porch and an amazingly large garden room. After four years of entertaining in summers and many holidays, it came time for the Hunts to put their stamp on their beach house. What better way than to accept the Village Improvement Association’s invitation to use it as the 2020 Designer Show House, allowing 10 top designers to showcase their talents!
